Les Forts de Latour 1997, the second wine of Château Latour in Pauillac, is produced from clay-gravel soils. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) and Merlot (20%), it reveals aromas of black cherry and liquorice. Its fresh palate and silky tannins make it a wine of rare elegance. Ideal with a leg of lamb.

Tasting notes for Château Latour Forts de Latour 1997
To the eye – A deep garnet-red robe of silky density, hinting at the fruit's maturity and the patina of time.
On the nose – First, aromas of black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by touches of liquorice, graphite and a subtle woody note, lifted by a characteristic saline edge typical of the great terroirs of Pauillac.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and melted tannins, where chalky minerality and a long finish intertwine, marked by a taut elegance.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1997
A vintage in which the mild climate allowed for ideal ripening, yielding a wine balanced between freshness and maturity.
- Ageing potential : At its peak between 2000 and 2003, this wine can still be kept for a few more years under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
