Tasting notes for Château Latour 1988
To the eye – A garnet robe with tawny highlights, dense and luminous, betraying an accomplished maturity while retaining a crystalline elegance.
On the nose – First, notes of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a breath of cedar, blonde tobacco and a touch of graphite, lifted by a subtle iodine-tinged salinity.
On the palate – A silky yet taut attack, where chalky minerality embraces still-firm tannins, carried by a lively acidity and a finish of saline, almost marine length.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its complex aromas.
