A true benchmark in the Languedoc, Domaine de Montcalmès has, over the years, established itself as one of the finest names in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. Founded by Frédéric Pourtalié (who learned everything at the Estate Grange des Pères), the estate is renowned for crafting wines of remarkable elegance through meticulous vineyard work and deep respect for its limestone terroir. Certified organic since 2015, Montcalmès highlights purity, balance, and the natural freshness of its vines.
The Montcalmès 2022 beautifully reflects this philosophy through a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, aged with care to preserve finesse and aromatic depth (in barrels from Romanée Conti!). The deep purple hue opens onto a refined bouquet of ripe black fruits, sweet spices, wild herbs and violet. On the palate, it offers a silky yet structured texture, with fine-grained tannins, superb balance and a lingering finish of cocoa and black pepper.
A wine that perfectly expresses both power and restraint — the signature of this exceptional domaine. Best served after brief aeration, it pairs beautifully with roast lamb, game or mature cheeses.
