The Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l'Orme 1999 by Sylvain Cathiard is a Pinot Noir from clay-limestone soils. Aged with care, it offers aromas of red fruits, spices and flowers, with a silky and mineral palate. Fresh and precise, it can be enjoyed through 2025 alongside game or aged cheeses.
A family estate rooted in the mythical hillsides of Vosne-Romanée, where Pinot Noir expresses itself with rare purity.
- Terroir: 5.5 hectares in the Côte de Nuits – Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny – where clay-limestone soils sculpt wines of mineral elegance.
- Vinification: precise cuvées, aged in respect of the fruit and the terroir, yielding wines that are both taut and silky.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l'Orme 1999
In the eye: a garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a velvety density, like a ruby polished by time.
On the nose: aromas of ripe morello cherry, faded violet and damp undergrowth, lifted by a touch of liquorice and a saline note, the signature of Chambolle's finest terroirs.
On the palate: a silky texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and harmonious finish where gentle spices and dark fruits intertwine.
Serve at 14-16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1999
A generous vintage in Burgundy, where the ripeness of the grapes made it possible to combine richness and balance.
- Ageing potential: at its peak today, this wine can still be cellared for 5 to 8 years under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
