Champagne Ruinart

The heirs of Claude Ruinart managed the house until 1963, when Ruinart joined forces with Moët et Chandon (acquired by LVMH since 1987). The iconic bottle format, as well as the creamy signature style of the wines, are the distinguishing hallmarks of the Ruinart house. This style seems to appeal to a wide audience, and the house range is composed of the R de Ruinart cuvées (with or without vintages), Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, Ruinart Rosé, and Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Dom Ruinart Rosé. In recent years, the wines have gained in purity and precision, and Ruinart has successfully grown its market share. The signature cuvée of the Ruinart House, "R de Ruinart," is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40 to 45% Pinot Noir, and 10 to 15% Meunier, including 25 to 30% reserve wines from the two years preceding the base. The nose is fine and fresh, fruity, marked by notes of white-fleshed fruits (pear, russet apple), apricot, as well as fresh hazelnuts and almonds. Some floral and spiced notes on a more brioche and biscuit background add an extra layer of complexity and olfactory intensity. On the palate, the wine is balanced, fairly round and fleshy, with aromas of ripe fruits (greengage and nectarine), and the finish is of good length. The Champagne Ruinart Blanc de Blancs cuvée, 100% Chardonnay, offers a nose of great intensity, with notes of fresh fruit and ripe citrus, followed by delicate notes of white flowers and white peach. The attack on the palate is smooth and harmonious, with great roundness, enhanced by a superb freshness. The palate is in complete harmony with the nose, featuring notes of nectarine and citrus, with a lovely minerality on the finish, of good length and very refreshing. The Champagne Dom Ruinart Rosé is a great cuvée, a true contemplative rosé. The nose is subtle and fresh, evoking exotic fruits (guava, lychee) and small red berries (raspberry, cherry, wild strawberry), with a floral hint of rose. The palate is silky and fleshy, driven by aromas of pomegranate, guava and lychee, pink grapefruit and peppermint. The wine is juicy, marked by an indulgent intensity, and the finish is of great length. The Ruinart style knows how to please, with quality always at the forefront.
