Rémy Pédréno is a demanding winegrower who, after a brief stint at the Rostaing estate, established in 1999 the Roc d'Anglade estate in the Gard region, where he decided to produce vin de pays wines. The 10 hectares of vines are planted on clay-siliceous terroirs on calcareous marl. Facing due north, they impart great freshness to the Roc d'Anglade wines, in the purest respect of the fruit. Production is in fact very limited. Roc d'Anglade follows organic farming principles and its wines are certified organic.

The TOP winemakers of Rhône

Like many wines, under the IGP Pays du Gard appellation, the winemaker is freed from appellation constraints. It is primarily the terroir and the winemaker's personality that are conveyed to the red wines, rosé wines and white wines of Domaine Roc d'Anglade, which are among the most sought-after in the Languedoc. Roc d'Anglade wines are characterized by great tension, extreme finesse, abundant freshness, certain elegance, and significant aging potential. Roc d'Anglade, a Vin de Pays du Gard, comes from a stony terroir on clay-siliceous-limestone soil. In red, it is made from a blend of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. Its nose is finely oaked and very fruity, with blackberry, blackcurrant and wild cherry notes. On the palate, this red Languedoc from Roc d'Anglade proves very appealing and also presents fine tannins. It therefore displays great personality. Made from 70% Chenin, the white Languedoc Roc d'Anglade is delicious and delicate, with notes of acacia and white fruits, and particularly prized by restaurateurs and sommeliers. It can be considered one of the finest white wines from southern France. The rosé Languedoc generally offers a mandarin nose and a lighter structure. The Roc d'Anglade Reserva Especial cuvée corresponds to a blend of several vintages with the aim of "rejuvenating an old wine with a newborn wine, and educating the innocent with refined wine". This is a wine designed to recall that produced by Vega Sicilia estate in Ribera del Duero in Spain, which combines certain vintages to create a quite singular cuvée. This exceptional great wine will delight lovers of full-bodied, complex wines without lacking refinement. The Roc d'Anglade Reserva Especial cuvée is elongated on a beautiful support of very fine tannins and underlying red fruit, all underlined by beautiful ripe acidity. A wine destined to age for many years. Aging in large casks has notably improved the quality of Domaine Roc d'Anglade wines, and we eagerly await Rémy Pedreno's next brilliant creative ideas.
