This Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009 from Domaine Joseph Roty, sourced from century-old vines, draws its richness from the clay-limestone soils of Gevrey-Chambertin. Aromas of dark fruits, liquorice and cocoa, a dense and silky palate, mineral finish. Perfect with red meats or cheeses until 2030.
Nestled at the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, this family estate has cultivated a heritage of precision and respect for the terroir across six generations.
- Terroir : The vines, rooted in the clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, draw their character from the white marls and limestone scree of the Charmes-Chambertin appellation.
- Vinification : Oak barrel aging, with an approach that favours the expression of fruit and mineral structure, without artifice.
- In the glass : A deep, dense and silky purple robe with garnet reflections that betray the age and concentration of the old vines.
- On the nose : First, aromas of blackcurrant and candied black cherry, followed by notes of damp earth, roasted cocoa, liquorice and a saline touch reminiscent of the chalky subsoils of Gevrey-Chambertin.
- On the palate : A velvety, almost unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity and chalky minerality; the tannins, fine and well-integrated, extend into a long and taut finish where gentle spices and a hint of tobacco intertwine.
Serve at 16-17°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
A generous vintage, marked by optimal ripeness of the grapes, yielding full-bodied and well-balanced wines.
- Ageing potential : To be kept until 2035 or beyond, in a cool cellar (12-14°C) and away from light.
