Nestled in Ampuis, at the heart of the Rhône Valley, this family estate has embodied since 1946 the excellence of the great northern Rhône wines, shaped by an exceptional terroir and a know-how passed down from generation to generation.
- Terroir : The steep slopes of the Côte Blonde, where the schistose and granitic soils of the Côte-Rôtie appellation lend the wines a distinctive minerality and a rare elegance.
- Vinification : A meticulous approach, combining tradition and precision – extended ageing in new oak barrels, long maceration and respect for the fruit, for cuvées of remarkable depth.
Tasting notes for the wine Guigal Côte Rôtie La Mouline 1992
- To the eye : A deep garnet robe with tawny glints, of a silky density, betraying both the ripeness of the vintage and the patina of time.
- On the nose : An enchanting bouquet where notes of fresh violet and wild blackberry first emerge, followed by deeper aromas of liquorice, roasted cocoa and undergrowth, lifted by a characteristic saline touch of the great schist terroirs.
- On the palate : A velvety, almost unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that drive the wine toward a remarkably long finish, where hints of blonde tobacco and soft spices linger.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to bring out its aromatic complexity.
