The Château La Conseillante 1974, from Pomerol, is born on clay-gravel soils rich in iron slag. This wine, with a dominant of Merlot, seduces with its notes of violet and truffle, refined in barrels. Its silky and mineral palate pairs with duck breast or lends itself to long cellaring.
A family estate since 1871, this emblematic domaine in Pomerol embodies the discreet elegance of an exceptional terroir, shaped by the passion of successive generations.
- Terroir : 12 hectares at the heart of Pomerol, on clay-gravel soils with subsoils rich in iron slag – a mineral signature that imparts the wines' characteristic tension.
- Winemaking : A plot-by-plot approach and patient aging in oak barrels, where tradition and precision combine to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château La Conseillante 1974
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of silky density, betraying nearly half a century of bottle maturation.
On the nose – First violet, fresh and airy, then black truffle and liquorice, before deeper notes of candied prunes, black raspberry and mocha emerge, all lifted by a saline and spiced touch.
On the palate – A velvety, almost unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the long and taut finish leaves lingering nuances of candied fruits and soft spices.
Serve between 16 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to reveal its full aromatic complexity.
