The Pétrus 2001, a fine wine from Pomerol, draws its character from its black clays. Blended with 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, it reveals notes of black fruits, truffle and chocolate, sublimated by ageing in new barrels. Velvety and taut, it pairs with noble meats until 2045.
On the Pomerol plateau, Pétrus embodies an exceptional viticultural heritage, shaped by a unique terroir and an uncompromising pursuit of excellence.
- Terroir : Black clays from the Pomerol plateau, deep and rich soils that give Merlot a rare power and minerality.
- Vinification : Ageing in new barrels for 20 months, respect for natural cycles and rigorous selection of berries for wines of incomparable density and elegance.
Tasting notes for Pétrus 2001
To the eye – A deep red robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky, like a liquid velvet heralding a generous matter.
On the nose – Aromas of candied black cherries, black truffle, roasted cocoa and graphite, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of liquorice that blossoms with time.
On the palate – A smooth and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and persistent finish where sweet spices and melted tannins intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
