The Château La Conseillante 1974, from the clay-gravel soils of Pomerol, blends Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (25%). Aged in oak barrels, it offers notes of dark fruits and spices, a silky and mineral palate. To enjoy until 2030 with game or a matured cheese.
Nestled at the heart of Pomerol, this family estate has embodied since 1871 the discreet elegance of an exceptional terroir, shaped by the expert hands of the Nicolas family.
- Terroir: Twelve hectares of gravelly clay, resting on an iron-rich subsoil – the geological signature of Pomerol that imparts the wines' mineral depth and characteristic velvety quality.
- Winemaking: A plot-by-plot approach in concrete tanks, followed by patient aging in oak barrels (80% new wood), to preserve the purity of the fruit while sculpting a silky texture.
Tasting notes for Château La Conseillante Conseillante 1974
To the eye: A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of chalky density that heralds a substance at once generous and precise.
On the nose: First aromas of wild blackberry and candied black cherry, then notes of liquorice, blond tobacco and a saline touch recalling the iodine of Atlantic winds.
On the palate: A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a ferrous minerality, stretching into a long and taut finish where soft spices and melted tannins intertwine.
Serve between 16 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its most subtle nuances.
