The Château La Conseillante 1974, a gem of Pomerol, is born on clay-gravel soils. This wine, dominated by Merlot, is aged in new oak barrels. Aromas of candied fruits, truffle and spices, with a velvety and mineral palate. Ideal with duck breast or cheeses.
A family estate since 1871, this emblematic domaine in Pomerol embodies the discreet elegance of an exceptional terroir, shaped by clay and iron.
- Terroir: Twelve hectares of clay-gravel soils on the edge of the appellation, where the grey clay of the north meets ferrous deposits to give birth to wines of rare finesse.
- Winemaking: Scrupulous respect for individual plots – hand-harvested, concrete tanks and aging in new oak barrels – to preserve the purity of the fruit and the chalky minerality.
Tasting notes for Château La Conseillante Conseillante 1974
To the eye – A ruby robe with tawny highlights, of silky density, like velvet worn by time.
On the nose – First, black raspberry and candied plum, then deeper notes of fresh truffle, roasted mocha and a saline touch of graphite, all wrapped in a subtle evocation of faded violet.
On the palate – A smooth yet taut texture, where lively acidity supports a chalky minerality, while the finish stretches into a long persistence of liquorice and candied red fruits.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to reveal its full complexity.
