Marie Courtin’s Champagne Efflorescence Extra Brut 2019, a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir, comes from the clay-limestone soils of Polisot. Aged for three years on the lees in barrels, it reveals aromas of red plum and mint and a full, mineral palate. With zero dosage, this lively, precise wine pairs beautifully with white meats and seafood.
A family estate rooted in the hillsides of Polisot, where biodynamics and respect for the terroir shape Champagnes of rare authenticity.
- Terroir : Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils in the Côte des Bar, the birthplace of a deep, mineral Pinot Noir far removed from the conventions of Épernay.
- Winemaking : Exacting traditional-method winemaking – natural yeasts, extended aging on the lees and zero dosage – for pure, vibrant single-plot cuvées.
Tasting notes for Marie Courtin Efflorescence Extra Brut 2019
To the eye – A pale golden color, crystal-clear, with a stream of fine, persistent bubbles, like a breath of chalk across the retina.
On the nose – First, the freshness of wild mint and meadow herbs, followed by the roundness of ripe red plum, before a saline touch and a hint of chamomile reveal the terroir’s mineral depth.
On the palate – A silky yet taut texture, supported by lively, precise acidity, with layers of dark fruit and flint unfolding into a chalky finish of elegant saline length.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a narrow flute to concentrate the aromas, or in a white wine glass to appreciate its complexity.
2019 vintage
A vintage marked by generous ripeness and preserved mineral tension, giving this Champagne a full structure and great precision.
- Aging potential : Store for 5 to 8 years in a cool cellar (12–14 °C), away from light, to let its nuances develop over time.
