From the chalky soils of Chevalier-Montrachet, the 2023 from Domaine Michel Niellon is a Chardonnay with aromas of pear, quince and white flowers. The palate, rich and elegant, offers mineral tension and a lemony finish. To be decanted from 2033 onwards to accompany fatty fish or poultry in cream sauce.
A family domaine rooted in the great terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet, where precision in the work meets a heritage of expertise passed down with exacting standards.
- Terroir: the chalky and limestone soils of the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru appellation, in the Côte de Beaune, where minerality expresses itself with rare elegance.
- Vinification: carefully sorted grapes, a controlled fermentation in oak barrels to preserve the purity of the Chardonnay and reveal the tension of the vintage.
To the eye: a golden robe with green highlights, of a silky and luminous texture, heralding a wine that is at once generous and precise.
On the nose: initially reserved, it opens up on aromas of ripe pear, quince and fresh white flowers, before giving way to deeper notes of marzipan, candied citrus and flint, with a saline touch woven throughout.
On the palate: a rich and almost voluptuous attack, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that brings tension and length; the finish, precise and lemony, lingers with an elegant austerity.
Serve between 12 and 14 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
A vintage marked by generous ripeness, where the summer heat was tempered by cool nights, preserving the freshness and tension of the Chardonnay.
- Ageing potential: to be kept until 2033 and beyond, under optimal conditions (stable temperature, away from light).
