The Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champgains 2024 from Domaine Michel Niellon, born on chalky soils, is a Chardonnay fermented in stainless steel then aged in barrels. Notes of bright citrus and pronounced minerality. Lively, silky and taut palate. To enjoy from 2027 with lobster or aged cheeses.
A family estate rooted in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, where respect for the terroir has guided every gesture for three generations.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone and marl soils of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru appellation, where chalk comes to the surface for wines of chalky minerality and taut elegance.
- Vinification: Fermentation in stainless steel vats followed by ageing in oak barrels (25–30% new), to preserve the purity of the Chardonnay while providing a silky structure.
To the eye: a golden robe with green highlights, of crystalline clarity and an unctuous texture that heralds a dense, precise wine.
On the nose: aromas of lime and pink grapefruit intertwine with notes of acacia blossom and flint, lifted by a saline touch that evokes the breezes of the Côte de Beaune.
On the palate: a lively, taut attack, carried by a sharp acidity that rounds into a silky texture, while nuances of chalk and candied citrus zest extend a mineral, persistent finish.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its complexity.
A vintage marked by vibrant energy, where freshness and concentration balance each other for a wine that is both precise and generous.
- Aging potential: Cellar until 2034 in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light, to allow its minerality and tertiary aromas to fully develop.
