Domaine Joseph Voillot is located in Burgundy south of the town of Beaune, in the village of Volnay, in the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Pierre Charlot, son-in-law of Joseph Voillot, has managed Domaine Voillot since 1995; he represents the 6th generation and is soon to hand over to Etienne Chaix, Joseph Voillot's grandson, who has been working alongside him at the estate for several vintages already. Domaine Joseph Voillot boasts a fine heritage of nearly 9 hectares of vines, spread across the communes of Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune. No fewer than 13 appellations are produced at Domaine Joseph Voillot and the same care is given to the entire range of Joseph Voillot wines, in the purest respect of Burgundian traditions.

Every intervention in the vines is managed on a plot-by-plot basis to best meet the needs of each parcel, adhering as closely as possible to an approach that is beneficial to the environment (Domaine Joseph Voillot holds Haute Valeur Environnementale certification). The wines are vinified in a traditional and plot-by-plot manner, so that each cuvée expresses the typicity of the vineyard in which it is located; aging is generally carried out over 16 to 18 months, with 15 to 25% new oak barrels. The wines of Domaine J. Voillot are generally lightly colored, but they truly reveal themselves with age, displaying a delicate and very refined bouquet as well as a great finesse of texture. The range comprises a Bourgogne rouge, a Pommard Vieilles Vignes, a Volnay Vieilles Vignes, 5 Volnay 1ers Crus (1er Cru Les Caillerets, 1er Cru Les Champans, 1er Cru Les Fremiets, 1er Cru Sous la Chapelle and 1er Cru Taillepieds), 4 Pommard 1ers Crus (1er Cru Clos Micault, 1er Cru Les Epenots, 1er Cru Les Pérerolles and 1er Cru Les Rugiens), and 2 Meursaults: Meursault Les Chevalières and Meursault 1er Cru Les Cras. Notable are the finesse of the Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets, the density and breadth of the Volnay 1er Cru Les Champans, the elegance of the 1er Cru Les Taillepieds and the limestone minerality of the 1er Cru Les Fremiets. The most structured Pommard in the range is the Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens. In Bourgogne blanc, the 2 Meursaults present a more mineral style for the Chevalières and a richer, age-worthy character for the Meursault 1er Cru Les Cras. Domaine Joseph Voillot thus produces age-worthy wines of an excellent level, at prices that remain always reasonable, making them highly appreciated by enthusiasts.
