The Domaine Joseph Voillot is located in Burgundy to the south of the town of Beaune, in the village of Volnay, in the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Pierre Charlot, son-in-law of Joseph Voillot, has been managing the Voillot estate since 1995; he represents the 6th generation and will soon be handing over to Etienne Chaix, Joseph Voillot's grandson, who has been working alongside him at the estate for several vintages now. Domaine Joseph Voillot boasts a fine heritage of nearly 9 hectares of vines, spread across the communes of Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune. No fewer than 13 appellations are produced at Domaine Joseph Voillot , and the same care is brought to the entire range of Joseph Voillot wines, in the purest respect of Burgundian traditions.

Every intervention in the vineyards is managed plot by plot, in order to best meet the vines' needs, drawing as closely as possible on a virtuous approach to the environment (the Domaine Joseph Voillot is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale). The wines are vinified in traditional, parcel-by-parcel fashion, so that each cuvée expresses the typicity of the vineyard in which it is found; ageing is generally carried out for 16 to 18 months, with 15 to 25% new oak barrels. The wines of Domaine J. Voillot are generally lightly coloured, but they truly reveal themselves with age, offering a delicate and very refined bouquet, as well as great finesse of texture. The range comprises a Bourgogne rouge, a Pommard Vieilles Vignes, a Volnay Vieilles Vignes, 5 Volnay 1ers Crus (1er Cru Les Caillerets, 1er Cru Les Champans, 1er Cru Les Fremiets, 1er Cru Sous la Chapelle and 1er Cru Taillepieds), 4 Pommard 1ers Crus (1er Cru Clos Micault, 1er Cru Les Epenots, 1er Cru Les Pérerolles and 1er Cru Les Rugiens), and 2 Meursaults: Meursault Les Chevalières and Meursault 1er Cru Les Cras. One may note the finesse of the Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets, the density and breadth of the Volnay 1er Cru Les Champans, the elegance of the 1er Cru Les Taillepieds and the calcareous minerality of the 1er Cru Les Fremiets. The most structured Pommard in the range is the Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens. In Bourgogne blanc, the 2 Meursaults appear in a more mineral style for the Chevalières, and richer and more age-worthy for the Meursault 1er Cru Les Cras. Domaine Joseph Voillot thus produces age-worthy wines of an excellent level, and always at a reasonable price, making them wines very much appreciated by enthusiasts.
