The Emmanuel Darnaud estate, located in La Roche-de-Glun in the northern Rhône Valley, is led by Emmanuel Darnaud, a skilled winemaker mentored by his father-in-law, Bernard Faurie, a renowned Hermitage icon. Since 2001, this 17-hectare domain, organic since 2023, has excelled in the Hermitage appellation. The Hermitage 2021 cuvée, a still red wine, is crafted entirely from Syrah sourced from the prestigious Bessards and Greffieux terroirs, vinified in concrete vats and aged in barrels for a profound expression.
On tasting, this wine reveals a dense purple hue and a complex nose of ripe black fruits, such as blackberry, complemented by violet, pepper, and a smoky hint. On the palate, it delivers a rich texture, structured tannins, and a long finish, marked by graphite and spice notes.
