The Guigal Ermitage Ex Voto Blanc 2005, born on the granitic hillsides of Hermitage, is a rare white wine from the Rhône. Crafted from Marsanne (95%) and Roussanne (5%), it reveals aromas of honeyed quince and fig, enhanced by brioche notes after 18 months in barrels. On the palate, silky and mineral, it offers a fresh and lingering finish. To be enjoyed until 2030 with lobster or chicken with morel mushrooms.
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis, Maison Guigal embodies the excellence of Rhône wines, combining family tradition with viticultural precision.
- Terroir: The granitic and schistous hillsides of Hermitage, bathed in northern light, shape white wines of chalky minerality and rare depth.
- Winemaking: Aging in new oak barrels, careful respect for the Marsanne and Roussanne grape varieties, and rigorous vintage selection for exceptional cuvées.
Tasting notes for E. Guigal Ermitage Ex Voto Blanc 2005
To the eye – A golden robe with old-gold reflections, of silky density and a brilliance that heralds a generous and precise wine.
On the nose – Aromas of honeyed quince and fresh chamomile intertwine with notes of green fig and candied apricot, before giving way to a saline touch and accents of heather honey and toasted brioche.
On the palate – Luscious yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity that balances the richness of the fruit, while a chalky minerality extends the finish into a long, saline and spiced persistence.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
