This Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2001 from Domaine Etienne Sauzet is a Chardonnay born on the clay-limestone terroirs of Burgundy. Fruity (pear, peach) and spiced, it offers a mineral and silky palate. Ideal for cellaring 10–20 years, it pairs beautifully with lobster or cream-based poultry dishes.
Nestled in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet since 1903, this family estate embodies the excellence of the great white wines of Burgundy, where tradition and precision combine to reveal the quintessence of Chardonnay.
- Terroir : Clay-limestone and marly soils, typical of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Beaune, lend the wines a chalky minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification : Aged in oak barrels, with a controlled touch of new wood, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the mineral tension.
Tasting notes for Domaine Etienne Sauzet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet 2001
- Appearance : A golden, dense and luminous robe, with silky reflections heralding an unctuous texture and a generous body.
- On the nose : An aromatic bouquet where Williams pear and white peach intertwine, followed by a hint of ripe pineapple, before blossoming into notes of gingerbread, clove and a subtle chalky salinity.
- On the palate : A lively and precise attack, carried by candied citrus fruits and a taut minerality, stretching into a long, saline finish where nuances of lime and a mineral persistence reveal themselves.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy glass to enhance its complexity.
2001 Vintage
A vintage marked by optimal grape maturity, yielding white wines of great aromatic concentration and beautiful mineral tension.
- Aging potential : To be cellared for 10 to 20 years under ideal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity and away from light).
