The Jacquesson Avize Champ Caïn 2014, Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from Avize, born from a chalky terroir. This champagne, 100% Chardonnay planted in 1962, is aged in large oak casks with no dosage. Aromas of pear, hazelnut and chamomile, minerality and elegance. Pairings: seafood. Aging potential: 2034.
A family house founded in 1798, Jacquesson embodies the exacting standards of a terroir champagne, rooted in the grand crus of the Côte des Blancs.
- Terroir : Historic Grand Cru plots – Avize, Dizy –, where chalky soils and south-facing exposure sculpt wines of vibrant minerality.
- Winemaking : Aged in large oak casks, without artifice, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for the Jacquesson Avize Champ Caïn 2014 wine
To the eye – A pale gold robe with green highlights, of crystalline clarity, where fine bubbles trace a silky and persistent cord.
On the nose – First notes of ripe Williams pear and chamomile flowers, then accents of roasted hazelnut and toasted bread, all underlined by a saline touch reminiscent of Avize chalk.
On the palate – A dense and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that stretches into a long and taut finish, where candied citrus and soft spices intertwine.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a tall flute or a white wine glass to reveal its complexity.
2014 Vintage
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where the coolness of the nights preserved the acidity and tension, while allowing for a fully realized fruity and mineral expression.
- Aging potential : To be enjoyed until 2034, provided it is stored away from light and temperature variations, ideally between 10 and 12 °C.
