Made from 30- to 60-year-old Chardonnay vines in Vertus, Nature de Craie Brut Nature Premier Cru is barrel-aged without sulfur. Lemon and wet-stone aromas lead to a saline, chalky palate. Ideal with seafood or aged cheeses after 5 to 10 years of cellaring.
A family estate rooted in the Côte des Blancs since 1889, where the seventh generation carries on a legacy of precision and respect for the terroir.
- Terroir: Chalky soils in Vertus and Voipreux, within the Premier Cru appellation, where the chalk lends the wines a distinctive minerality.
- Winemaking: A natural approach, with no added sulfur or dosage, fermentation in used barrels and aging on the lees for a pure, vibrant expression.
Tasting notes for Laherte Frères 1er cru Nature de Craie Brut Nature
Appearance – Pale gold and crystal clear, with a stream of fine, persistent bubbles like a trail of suspended chalk dust.
On the nose – First, aromas of candied lemon zest and linden blossom, followed by a touch of flint and toasted bread crumb, all lifted by a subtle iodine-tinged salinity.
On the palate – A lively, saline opening, driven by taut acidity and a silky texture. Chalky minerality gives structure to a rich yet elegant palate, leading to a long, fresh finish.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a champagne flute or white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
Non-vintage
A blended cuvée in which each year contributes to the balance between mineral tension and aromatic richness, without depending on the whims of a single vintage.
- Aging potential: Enjoy now for its youthful vibrancy, or cellar for up to 8 years in a cool, dark place to let its nuances develop.
