Mas Jullien Blanc 2023, from the limestone terroirs of Jonquières (IGP Pays d’Hérault), blends Carignan blanc and Chenin into a dry white wine. A fresh nose of peach and citrus, with delicate minerality. Silky on the palate, with taut acidity and a saline finish. Aged in large oak casks, it can be cellared until 2038 and pairs with lobster or sheep’s milk tomme.
Nestled in Jonquières, at the gateway to the Larzac, this family estate has embodied the exacting standards of a high-altitude Mediterranean terroir since 1985.
- Terroir: Hard limestone and clay-limestone scree on the slopes of the Hérault, at elevations of up to 450 meters—a geology that shapes wines with vibrant minerality.
- Winemaking: Native yeasts, gentle pressing and patient aging in old large oak casks—an approach that preserves the purity of the fruit and the terroir’s tension.
Tasting notes for Mas Jullien Blanc de Raisins blancs 2023
In the glass – A pale yellow color with golden highlights, bright and crystal clear.
On the nose – A vibrant bouquet blending vineyard peach and Williams pear, accented by ripe citrus zest, a hint of hawthorn blossom and a chalky, almost saline mineral thread.
On the palate – A silky, expansive texture, carried by lively acidity and limestone minerality that lends the palate tension; flavors of quince, acacia honey and wet stone extend into a long, saline finish of vibrant elegance.
Serve at 10–12°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
