All Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru wines in Burgundy
Charmes Chambertin, located in Gevrey-Chambertin on the Côte de Nuits, is an exceptional Grand Cru in Burgundy. Covering 28.43 hectares, it is the largest of the commune's nine Grands Crus, including part of the neighboring climat Mazoyères-Chambertin, also labeled with this name. This vineyard, classified as a Grand Cru in 1937, is planted exclusively with Pinot Noir on hillsides between 240 and 280 meters above sea level, benefiting from ideal east-south-east exposure. The clay-limestone soils vary: clay and limestone at the bottom, brown loam and gravel at the top, rich in pebbles for optimal drainage. This geological diversity forges elegant, complex red wines, with aromas of red fruits (cherry, blackcurrant), black fruits (blackberry), violets, licorice and sweet spices, evolving towards truffle or mineral notes with age. On the palate, Charmes Chambertin seduces with its silky texture, fine tannins and balanced structure, offering cellaring potential of 10 to 25 years, or even longer in great vintages. Some thirty estates, including Armand Rousseau and Perrot-Minot, produce this exceptional wine.
