Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Cuvée Très Vieilles Vignes 2005 from Domaine Joseph Roty. This Grand Cru, sourced from century-old vines, marries cherry, raspberry and spices with a chalky minerality. The palate, silky and lively, pairs beautifully with game or cheeses until 2030.
Nestled at the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, this family estate has perpetuated a viticultural heritage for over a century, with a deep respect for the Burgundian terroir.
- Terroir : Clay-limestone soils, typical of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, lend the wines a chalky minerality and a taut elegance.
- Vinification : A traditional approach, combining long maceration and oak barrel aging, for wines of silky precision and fleshy depth.
In the glass: A deep red robe with garnet reflections, dense and luminous, revealing an almost unctuous texture.
On the nose: First, aromas of black cherry and fresh raspberry, followed by notes of gentle spices – cinnamon and liquorice – then an animal and mineral touch, like a breath of damp undergrowth.
On the palate: A silky attack, carried by a lively acidity and mineral tension, where candied dark fruits, spices and a chalky salinity mingle, leading to a long and enveloping finish.
Serve between 14 and 16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by perfect ripeness of the grapes, offering wines of rare concentration while retaining a remarkable freshness.
- Ageing potential : To be kept until 2035 or beyond, under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity and away from light).
