Sourced from the clay-limestone terroirs of Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, the Ponsot Cuvée des Merles 2018 is a Pinot Noir of exceptional finesse. Its notes of cherry, violet and spices combine with a lively, velvety texture. Perfect for cellaring (10–15 years), it pairs beautifully with duck breast or braised beef.
Domaine Ponsot
Nestled in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis since 1872, this family estate embodies exacting standards and faithfulness to the Burgundian terroir across five generations of winemakers.
- Terroir: clay-limestone and marly soils of the Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru appellation, where the Pinot Noir draws its minerality and depth.
- Winemaking: aged in oak barrels, respecting natural cycles and seeking a pure, elegant expression of the grape variety.

Tasting notes for Domaine Ponsot Charmes-Chambertin Cuvée des Merles 2018
To the eye: a deep ruby robe with garnet highlights, of a silky and luminous density.
On the nose: aromas of black cherry, violet and liquorice, lifted by a touch of undergrowth and a subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate: a velvety texture, carried by lively acidity and taut minerality, with a long, precise finish marked by notes of truffle and soft spices.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy glass to unlock its full complexity.
Vintage 2018
A generous vintage, where the ripeness of the grapes combines with preserved freshness, offering a classic balance and harmonious structure.
- Aging potential: 15 to 20 years, to be stored under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
