Wine 1952

The 1952 vintage in France was exceptional, with a warm spring and summer favouring early ripening, despite a drought in June and autumn rains disrupting the harvest. In Bordeaux, the reds are robust and concentrated but uneven, the dry whites firm and balanced, while the sweet wines, opulent, have aged gracefully. In Burgundy, the velvety, ripe Pinot Noirs still excel today, and the structured Chardonnays keep well. The Rhône Valley offers silky and delicious wines, Champagne elegant and balanced cuvées, and the Loire fruity Chinons as well as harmonious sweet Anjous, confirming the overall success of this legendary year.
