The vines are propagated through massal selection, and the estate’s current vines descend from pre-phylloxera selections. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified using traditional methods. The white Burgundy wines are aged for 12 to 18 months, and the red Burgundy wines for 16 to 18 months, before bottling. Vincent Bouzereau’s wines are precise and consistent in style. The Chardonnay-based Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières cuvée has a distinctly mineral character thanks to the limestone fragments in its soil. Elegant and beautifully pure, it gains complexity with age. The Volnay 1er Cru Les Champans cuvée is one of the Vincent Bouzereau estate’s finest wines. This outstanding Volnay comes from two tiny plots on the Volnay hillside. Remarkably precise, with a deep red color and bright highlights, it offers aromas of red berries, including raspberry and sour cherry. The palate is silky and refined, with a long finish and remarkable tannins that promise graceful development. Vincent Bouzereau’s village-level Volnay has a vivid ruby color and aromas of violet, redcurrant and cherry. It offers delicate, nuanced concentration, lovely freshness on the palate and a warm finish. The Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes shows generous body and a pleasingly persistent palate. Vincent Bouzereau’s Bourgogne rouge is also very approachable and is best enjoyed within two years.
