Domaine Armand Rousseau A pillar of Burgundy since 1902, this family estate embodies exacting standards and loyalty to the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin. - Terroir: Calcareous and marly soils of the Côte de Nuits, the cradle of Burgundy's most structured Pinot Noirs, where each plot reveals a unique minerality. - Winemaking: Aged in oak barrels, respecting natural cycles and measured extraction for wines of taut elegance and rare precision.
Tasting notes for Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques 2021 In the glass: Deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, a silky density that heralds generous and finely chiselled substance. On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and wild blackberry, evolving towards notes of liquorice, damp undergrowth and a saline flint-stone touch, the signature of great calcareous terroirs. On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by chalky acidity and velvety tannins; the long, mineral finish leaves an impression of purity and elegant tension. Serve between 14 and 16°C, in a Burgundy glass to release its complex aromas.
Vintage 2021 A vintage marked by freshness and concentration, where climatic rigour has sculpted wines of remarkable energy. - Ageing potential: 15 to 20 years, to be kept in a cool (12–14°C) and humid cellar, away from vibrations.
