Billecart-Salmon Brut Nature, born of Champagne’s chalky soils, blends Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for 48 months, it reveals a golden hue, a citrus-scented nose and a taut, saline palate. Ideal with seafood, it can be kept for 2 to 4 years.
An independent family-owned house since 1818, Billecart-Salmon cultivates understated elegance and balance on the terroirs of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
- Terroir: Chalky soils of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the slopes of Épernay, where Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier express their mineral purity.
- Winemaking: Precise blending, carefully controlled malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees create a silky tension and subtle complexity.
Tasting notes for Billecart-Salmon Brut Nature Champagne
Appearance – Pale gold with silver highlights, threaded with a stream of fine, persistent bubbles that hints at a texture both airy and structured.
Nose – Aromas of lime and tart apple intertwine with notes of fresh hazelnut and acacia blossom, carried by a saline minerality reminiscent of sea spray.
Palate – A lively, precise opening brings together the tension of Chardonnay and the roundness of Meunier, leading to a chalky, saline finish with echoes of toasted brioche and candied citrus zest.
Serve at 10–11°C in a Champagne flute to preserve its freshness and finesse.
