The Château Clinet 1996, born on the clay-gravel soils of Pomerol, is a wine where Merlot expresses itself with finesse. Its aromas of ripe fruits and spices, aged 18 months in oak barrels, precede a silky and mineral palate. Perfect to drink now, it pairs beautifully with beef and venison dishes.
Nestled on the Pomerol plateau, this family estate embodies the excellence of Right Bank wines, where Merlot reigns supreme over clay-gravel soils.
- Terroir: Deep clays and gravels of Pomerol, lending the wines a full-bodied structure and a distinctive minerality.
- Vinification: Aged in French oak barrels (80% new), for a harmony between fruit and wood, without ever sacrificing freshness.
Tasting notes for Château Clinet 1996
To the eye – Ruby robe with tawny reflections, of a silky density and a brilliance preserved by the years.
On the nose – Aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry, lifted by hints of liquorice, cedar, and a saline touch reminiscent of the damp undergrowth of Pomerol.
On the palate – Velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a melted tannic structure, where soft spices and chalky minerality intertwine, leading to an elegantly long finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its nuances.
