The Vieux Château Certan 1997, born on the gravels of Pomerol, blends Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). Its aromas of raspberry and violet, refined in oak barrels, reveal an elegant and fresh palate. Perfect until 2025 with game or truffles.
Nestled at the heart of the Pomerol appellation, this family estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for generations.
- Terroir : From the gravelly and clay soils of Pomerol, where Merlot flourishes in harmony with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wines a unique mineral elegance.
- Vinification : A meticulous approach, combining tradition and precision – parcel-by-parcel fermentation, aging in new oak barrels and careful blending to reveal the purity of the fruit.
Tasting notes for Vieux Château Certan 1997
To the eye – A deep ruby robe, of silky texture and a brilliance that already hints at its complexity.
On the nose – Aromas of fresh raspberry and violet intertwine, followed by a touch of liquorice and a subtle chalky note, like an echo of the gravelly soils of Pomerol.
On the palate – The palate is ample and velvety, carried by a lively acidity and a saline minerality that balances the richness of the fruit, leading to a long and precise finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
Vintage 1997
An early and generous vintage, where the ripeness of the grapes yielded a wine of great finesse, despite contrasting climatic conditions.
- Aging potential : At its peak between 2005 and 2007, this wine is ideally stored in a cool, humid cellar, away from temperature variations.
