The Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Brut (Base 2020 - disgorged in 2025), from Ambonnay, is an exceptional Extra-Brut. This Champagne, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, offers notes of ripe fruit and toasted bread. Its mineral and lively palate pairs with shellfish and poultry through 2035.
A family estate rooted in Ambonnay since 1860, Egly-Ouriet embodies the excellence of the great terroirs of the Montagne de Reims.
- Terroir: Chalky and limestone soils of the Grand Crus Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay, imparting a distinctive minerality and a deep structure to the wines.
- Winemaking: Barrel aging, indigenous yeasts and minimal dosage to reveal the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for the wine Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Brut (Base 2020 - Disgorged 2025)
To the eye: A golden robe with pale highlights, animated by a fine and persistent effervescence, like a silky veil on the glass.
On the nose: Aromas of crisp apple and Williams pear mingle with notes of hawthorn blossom, before giving way to a hint of toasted brioche and a subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate: Dense and vibrant texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, finishing with a long and slightly toasted finish, where a hint of acacia honey lingers.
Serve between 10°C and 12°C in a Champagne flute to preserve its freshness and brilliance.
Vintage 2020
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where cool nights preserved the acidity and tension of the grapes.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed now through 2035, store in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
