The Château La Gaffelière 1996, grand cru of Saint-Émilion, showcases clay-limestone soils. This wine, made from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, seduces with its notes of black fruits and spices, and a well-balanced palate. Ideal with game or cheese, it can be cellared until 2030.
A family estate rooted for three centuries on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, where heritage blends with a constant quest for elegance.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and molasse of Saint-Émilion, with full southern exposure, conferring a chalky minerality and a vibrant tension to the wines.
- Vinification: Carefully controlled aging in oak barrels, respecting the freshness of the grape varieties and the purity of the fruit, for cuvées that are both precise and silky.
Tasting Notes for Château La Gaffelière 1996
To the eye: A garnet robe with tawny hues, of silky density and a clarity that reveals its age with distinction.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry, faded violet and sweet licorice, lifted by a hint of cedar and a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate: Velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a melted tannic framework, giving way to a long and slightly spiced finish, where the chalky minerality of the terroir emerges.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
