- Terroir: 39 hectares of unique soils – sands, gravels and clays – shaping wines of rare complexity, between power and elegance.
- Winemaking: Manual harvesting, rigorous sorting and ageing in new oak barrels to reveal the purity of the fruit and the minerality of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Cheval Blanc 2018
To the eye: A deep purple robe, almost black, with dense and silky reflections, betraying a generous substance and remarkable concentration.
On the nose: A vivid and layered bouquet – wild blackberries, candied black cherries, fresh violets, then deeper notes of truffle, liquorice and a saline touch, like a mineral breath rising from the gravel.
On the palate: A velvety, almost fleshy texture, carried by precise acidity and a chalky tension; the tannins, fine and enveloping, stretch into a long finish where sweet spices and persistent freshness intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2018
A sun-drenched vintage, marked by optimal grape ripeness, where the summer heat sculpted ripe tannins without sacrificing freshness.
- Ageing potential: 20 to 30 years, to be kept under ideal conditions (14–16°C, controlled humidity).
