Tasting notes for the wine Château La Gaffelière La Gaffelière 1964
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with tawny highlights, silky in density, its brilliance betraying its age with nobility.
On the nose – First notes of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a touch of aged leather, blonde tobacco and a subtle hint of graphite, like a mineral echo of the chalky soils.
On the palate – A velvety yet taut texture, where lively acidity supports a still-present tannic frame, while a saline and persistent finish reveals the full complexity of a great fine wine for aging.
