The Grande Cuvée Edition 173 by Krug, drawn from the chalky soils of Champagne, is a non-vintage brut of great complexity. A blend of 120 wines, it reveals tropical fruits, citrus and brioche, carried by a lively mousse. Perfect for special occasions, to be enjoyed between 2025 and 2045.
A legendary house founded in 1843 in Reims, Krug embodies absolute standards – a family heritage where each cuvée celebrates the diversity of the Champagne terroirs.
- Terroir : A blend of exceptional crus, drawn from the great terroirs of Champagne – chalky, clay-limestone and mineral subsoils that sculpt the identity of the wines.
- Winemaking : Patient elaboration in oak barrels, with extended aging to reveal a unique complexity, where each vintage dialogues with the others.
Tasting notes for Krug Grande Cuvée Edition 173
To the eye – A golden robe with amber highlights, of a crystalline clarity, while a fine and persistent mousse dances in a silky crown.
On the nose – First an explosion of tropical fruits: ripe passion fruit, candied lemon and baked apple, then deeper nuances of almond paste, honey and toasted brioche, all lifted by a saline touch and a hint of gentle spices.
On the palate – A velvety and taut texture unfolds, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the bubbles, of a rare elegance, release aromas of nougat, citrus zests and gingerbread, leading to a long and harmonious finish.
To be served between 8 and 10°C, in a flute or a wide-rimmed champagne glass to capture its full complexity.
Vintage 2017
A base year marked by a generous ripeness and a fine tension, giving this cuvée a balanced structure and a remarkable depth.
- Aging potential : To be enjoyed from now, with a peak between 2025 and 2045, to be stored in a cool place away from light.
