Domaine Tempier’s Bandol Cabassaou 2023 expresses Bandol’s arid soils. Predominantly Mourvèdre (92–94%), it offers aromas of dark fruit, thyme and licorice. Precise and mineral on the palate, with firm tannins, it is aged 18 months in large oak casks. Cellar for 10 years; ideal with a meat stew or aged cheeses.
A historic estate of the Bandol appellation, Domaine Tempier is deeply rooted in Provence, where it produces Mourvèdre wines of rare intensity with exacting care.
- Terroir: A plot of shallow soil at the foot of La Tourtine, sheltered from the mistral, with very low yields.
- Winemaking: Rigorous grape selection, fermentation in concrete tanks and extended aging in large oak casks reveal pure fruit and tannic structure.
Tasting notes for Domaine Tempier Bandol Cabassaou 2023
In the glass – Deep red with violet highlights, dense and silky, hinting at generous richness and mineral tension.
On the nose – Ripe dark fruit aromas (plum and blackcurrant) intertwine with notes of garrigue, light tobacco and a saline hint.
On the palate – Full and velvety, with lively acidity and precise tannins; chalky minerality carries through to a long, elegant finish.
