The Vieux Château Certan 1973, a fine wine from Pomerol, reveals clay-gravel soils and aging in oak barrels. Ripe fruits, spices and liquorice unite with a silky texture and lively freshness. Ideal with red meats or aged cheeses.
A family estate rooted in the heart of Pomerol, where the Bordeaux heritage has been passed down for nearly a century.
- Terroir: Deep gravel and blue clay from the Right Bank, giving the wines a structure that is both fleshy and precise.
- Vinification: Meticulous blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged patiently in oak barrels to reveal the elegance of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Vieux Château Certan 1973
To the eye: Garnet robe with brick-red hues, of silky density and a clarity preserved by the decades.
On the nose: Aromas of candied prune, aged cedar, blond tobacco and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and taut finish where gentle spices and candied black fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
