Jérôme Lefèvre

Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre wines: buy at the best price

Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre is a contemporary and radical signature from the Vallée de la Marne, founded in 2020 by Jérôme Lefèvre, former creator of Champagnes Delalot and a singular figure in the organic Champagne winegrowing world. Based in Essômes-sur-Marne, Maison Jérôme Lefèvre brings together under one banner the Champagnes Delalot and the collection signed Jérôme Lefèvre, crafted from a small 0.5-hectare vineyard farmed under certified organic agriculture, supplemented since 2021 by a négociant activity allowing exploration of the diversity of the Champagne terroir. Each year, a single unrepeated cuvée is produced, never replicated: a unique approach in Champagne that transforms each bottle into a collector's piece — bold, sincere and resolutely modern.

History of Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre

The story of Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre begins in 2009, when Jérôme Lefèvre, a former professor of contemporary art history in Paris, left his academic career to take over the family vineyard of his mother Éliane Delalot, in Charly-sur-Marne. Inspired by the natural farming philosophy of Masanobu Fukuoka and the writings of Thoreau, he immediately began the organic conversion of the estate and produced his first certified cuvée in 2013 under the Champagnes Delalot label.

From 2019 onwards, the vineyard expanded with new plots at Mont de Bonneil and Essômes-sur-Marne, immediately converted to organic farming. It was in 2020 that Jérôme founded Maison Jérôme Lefèvre, which now brings together both brands (Delalot and Jérôme Lefèvre) and allows him to push his vinicultural exploration further. Since 2021, the négociant-manipulant status has opened up the possibility of collaborating with like-minded organic grower friends to offer a true collection of contemporary cuvées, where each bottle is a rare, unprecedented and irreproducible object.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre

The estate vineyard of Maison Jérôme Lefèvre covers approximately 0.5 hectares in the heart of Essômes-sur-Marne, in the Western Marne Valley, complemented by plots at Mont de Bonneil, Charly-sur-Marne and Saulchery (still under the Delalot label). The soils, blending clays, limestones and marls, offer a terroir particularly well-suited to the Meunier grape variety, which expresses itself here with rare amplitude, occasionally complemented by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The south- and southeast-facing hillsides benefit from optimal sunshine, conducive to well-balanced ripening.

The vineyard is managed according to the most demanding principles of organic and natural farming: no synthetic chemicals, no heavy machinery, manual labour and animal traction, preserved biodiversity and a sanctuarised soil microbial life. This radical approach, inspired by Japanese shizen nōhō, allows each plot to express its geological and climatic singularity. Naturally very low yields guarantee exceptional concentration and aromatic purity — an indispensable condition for crafting auteur cuvées.

Winemaking at Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre

In the cellar, Jérôme Lefèvre applies a philosophy of permanent experimentation, grounded in absolute respect for the grape and the vintage. Harvesting is entirely manual, followed by gentle pressing and plot-by-plot vinification in stainless steel vats or oak barrels (often sourced from the Marne Valley, in 300-litre pieces). Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out using only indigenous yeasts, with no oenological additives, sometimes timed according to lunar phases.

Ageing is lengthy, from several months to over a year depending on the cuvée, on fine lees, in order to develop complexity and depth. Dosages are often zero (brut nature) or very low, and when a dosage is applied, it uses organic cane sugar or unfermented grape must. Bottles are hand-numbered, manually disgorged and produced in very small quantities. Only one new cuvée is created each year under the Jérôme Lefèvre label: once sold out, it will never be reproduced, giving each bottle an openly assumed collector's dimension.

The cuvées of Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre

The Sans Titre #1 cuvée inaugurates the collection signed by Jérôme Lefèvre. It embodies the philosophy of the house: an exclusive and unprecedented blend, crafted only once, the result of experimental organic winemaking. Hand-numbered and produced in confidential quantities, this cuvée lays the foundation for an auteur approach in which each bottle becomes a rare object, at the crossroads of wine and art.

The Coteaux Champenois Blanc Sans Titre #2 cuvée is an atypical still wine, made from 100% Meunier vinified as a white wine, sourced from two biodynamic plots located at Bauine and Brie, planted in 1975. 2012 harvest, vinification and ageing in barrels before bottling in March 2015, with only 480 bottles produced. A rare and singular expression of white Meunier — deep, taut and mineral.

The Impressions cuvée, signed under the Jérôme Lefèvre label, is a Champagne Brut Nature, Blanc de Noirs, crafted from 100% Pinot Meunier. Sourced from the "Les Boulard" plot planted in 1971, it reveals all the verticality and natural colour imparted by old Meunier vines. With no dosage, it expresses a radical purity, a dense texture and a long, precise finish — a perfect ambassador of the winemaker's signature style.

The Coteaux Champenois Rouges of Maison Jérôme Lefèvre represent a bold exploration of Meunier and Pinot Noir vinified as still wines. Produced in tiny quantities and aged in barrels, these atypical reds offer an airy finesse, silky tannins and vibrant fruit — a testament to the Marne Valley's capacity to produce serious, identity-driven reds.

The Coteaux Champenois Blancs complement the collection with still wines made primarily from Meunier vinified as a white wine, or sometimes from Chardonnay, depending on the vintage. Aged in barrels, they display a full-bodied character, mineral and floral notes, and bear witness to the unsuspected depth of Meunier outside of sparkling wine.

The Jérôme Lefèvre Annual Collection brings together all the unique cuvées that the winemaker creates each year under his own name, the fruit of free vinicultural experimentation and exclusive blends produced in collaboration with fellow organic grower colleagues. Each cuvée is unprecedented, never reproduced, hand-numbered: a true oenological logbook, contemporary and audacious, pushing the classic boundaries of Champagne to offer resolutely modern and memorable tasting experiences.
