Champagne Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume, located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, embodies the excellence of Champagne viticulture. Led by Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume, this family estate produces exceptional champagnes, combining tradition, respect for nature and innovation. With a vineyard of 5.35 hectares spread across the villages of Verzenay, Verzy and Villers-Marmery, the estate's cuvées captivate with their authenticity and pure expression of terroir. Each bottle tells a story of passion, craftsmanship and environmental commitment, ideal for enthusiasts wishing to purchase wines of character.
Heir to a lineage of winegrowers since 1897, Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume represents the fifth generation to cultivate the family vines. At just 30 years old, he took over in 2017 the estate of his mother, Sabine Godmé, and infused a modern vision while respecting traditions. Based in Verzenay, a village classified as Grand Cru, Matthieu draws on a rich viticultural heritage to create unique champagnes. His philosophy, centred on authenticity and epicureanism, guides every stage of production, from vine to bottle. As a "paysan-vinificateur" (grower-winemaker), he devotes himself to wines that reflect his love for the land and his respect for the ecosystem.
The vineyard of Champagne Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume extends over 5.35 hectares, of which 3.50 hectares are Chardonnay and 1.85 hectares are Pinot Noir, spread across the prestigious villages of Verzenay, Verzy (Grands Crus) and Villers-Marmery (Premier Cru). The vines, aged between 30 and 40 years, are in their prime, offering remarkable aromatic complexity. The chalky soils of the Montagne de Reims impart a distinctive minerality to the champagnes. Committed to sustainable viticulture, Matthieu practises natural grassing, uses 100% organic fertilisers and bans herbicides and insecticides. Yields are managed through techniques such as pruning, bud removal and suckering, ensuring grapes of optimal quality.
The winemaking at Champagne Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume favours the authentic expression of the terroir. Each plot is vinified separately, primarily in French oak barrels sourced from various coopers, to highlight the diversity of the terroirs. The musts ferment with indigenous yeasts, reinforcing the unique character of the wines. The reserve wines, stored by cru, form perpetual reserves by village, bringing complexity and consistency. The champagnes are aged on fine lees for 8 months, from mid-June to late May, without filtration or fining, to preserve their purity. This artisanal approach guarantees vibrant champagnes, perfect for accompanying your exceptional moments.
Champagne Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume offers a range of champagnes of rare elegance, available for purchase by fine wine enthusiasts:
