Champagne Larmandier-Bernier wines: buy at the best price

Since the French Revolution, the Larmandier family has always contributed to the renown of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne with their celebrated cuvée Cramant Blanc de Blanc Nature. The Larmandier-Bernier brand was founded in the early 1970s by Philippe Larmandier. He took over part of the family estate Larmandier Père & Fils located in Cramant, to which he added the vineyards of his wife Elisabeth Bernier situated in Vertus. In 1988, their son Pierre took over the Larmandier-Bernier estate and steered it towards more sustainable farming. Indeed, he preferred to till the plots rather than use herbicides. The Larmandier Bernier estate has been certified in organic farming and biodynamics since 1999. In the meantime, the estate expanded with an additional 4 hectares of vines located in Vertus. Today, the property encompasses 17 hectares of vines across the villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, of which 15 hectares are white (chardonnay) classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru and 2 hectares are red (pinot noir).

The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are picked at optimal ripeness. The wines are vinified in oak vats without yeast. The Champagnes from the Larmandier Bernier estate offer excellent value for money. Indeed, given the exceptional quality of certain cuvées, prices remain very reasonable. Among these cuvées, the Longitude 1er cru extra brut offers beautiful aromatic purity and remarkable salinity. The Terre de vertus Blancs de Blancs cuvée is more complex and exotic, with notes of white fruits, spices and dried fruits. The palate is well balanced, refined and creamy. The Latitude Blanc de Blanc extra brut cuvée displays a lovely, very pleasant fruitiness with tender and fresh bubbles. Finally, the Vieilles Vignes du Levant Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru cuvée expresses beautiful aromatic complexity with great minerality reminiscent of chalk, as well as brioche and candied lemon notes.
The estate has pinot noir vines on the Côte des Blancs and produces a rare Coteaux Champenois Vertus rouge in the finest years, and a rare Larmandier Bernier rosé de saignée with aromas of raspberries and small red fruits in a fruity and indulgent style.
