Champagne Bourgeois-Diaz wines: buy at the best price

At the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, where the wooded hillsides gently slope down to the tranquil waters of the river, Champagne Bourgeois-Diaz embodies a radically human and sincere vision of Champagne viticulture. This family estate, established in Crouttes-sur-Marne in the Aisne département, approximately 25 kilometres east of Meaux and halfway between Paris and Reims, produces Champagnes of remarkable purity and precision, recognised by natural and biodynamic wine enthusiasts the world over. On fewer than seven hectares of vines cultivated without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, Jérôme and Charlotte Bourgeois-Diaz craft eight Champagne cuvées as well as a red Coteaux Champenois.

History of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz

The history of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz began in the 1990s when the Bourgeois family decided to take over and develop the family vineyards located in the Vallée de la Marne. Initially focused on traditional viticulture, the estate took a decisive turn at the beginning of the 2000s under the impetus of Jérôme Bourgeois.

Convinced that the future of Champagne lies in greater respect for nature and the soil, he gradually began converting the vineyard to organic and then biodynamic farming. This pioneering approach in the region has profoundly shaped the identity of the wines of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz.

Today, the estate cultivates just over 7 hectares of vines and has established itself as a recognized signature among the Champagnes of independent grower-producers. The cuvées, produced in limited quantities, are sought after by lovers of rare wines and by enthusiasts of character-driven Champagnes.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz

The vineyard of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz is located primarily around the village of Crouttes-sur-Marne, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. This area is renowned for its clay-limestone and silty soils, which are particularly favorable to the expression of pinot meunier.

This variety holds a central place in the estate's grape selection, complemented by plots of pinot noir and chardonnay. Each plot is tended with precision in order to best reveal its own identity.

For many years now, the entire vineyard has been managed under certified biodynamics. The soils are alive, cultivated without herbicides or synthetic chemical products. This respectful approach yields healthy and concentrated grapes, an indispensable foundation for the production of great Champagnes.

Domaine Bourgeois Diaz upholds an artisanal and demanding vision: low yields, manual harvesting and constant attention to the natural balance of the vine.

Winemaking at Domaine Bourgeois Diaz

In the cellars of Domaine Bourgeois Diaz, winemaking is conceived as a natural extension of the work carried out in the vineyards. The objective is simple: to intervene as little as possible in order to allow the terroir to express itself fully.

Fermentations are carried out using indigenous yeasts. A large proportion of the wines are aged in oak barrels or large casks, adding depth and aromatic complexity. The aging periods are long, encouraging the expression of fine textures and delicate bubbles.

Dosage levels are generally low, or even nonexistent for certain cuvées, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the natural tension of the wines. This philosophy clearly places the estate among the leading players in the movement for organic, biodynamic and natural-spirit Champagnes.

Each cuvée is conceived as a singular creation, a faithful reflection of a single plot and a single grape variety.
