The Auguste Clape Cornas 2022, a pure Syrah from the granites of Cornas, is raised without destemming in large oak vats by the Domaine Auguste Clape. A nose of dark fruits and spices, a fleshy palate, fine tannins and vibrant minerality. Ideal with game and rich dishes.
Domaine Auguste Clape
A cornerstone of the Cornas appellation, this family estate has embodied for three generations the demands of a granitic terroir and a steadfast commitment to Syrah.
- Terroir: Steep slopes of Cornas, soils of decomposed granite – a mineral setting that sculpts the tension and depth of the wines.
- Vinification: Traditional method without destemming, aging in old large oak vats – an approach that preserves the purity of the fruit and the integrity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2022
In the glass: A robe of deep purple with dense highlights, almost silky in its intensity.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and fresh blackcurrant intertwine with notes of violet and peppermint, before giving way to a saline touch and nuances of liquorice and flint.
On the palate: A broad and fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, while fine and tight tannins extend a long and spicy finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a red Burgundy-style wine glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2022
A vintage marked by generous ripeness and preserved freshness, offering a rare balance between concentration and elegance.
- Aging potential: 15 to 20 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light.
