The Cornas 2021 Magnum from Domaine Auguste Clape is produced from Syrah vines aged 40 to 70 years, grown on the granitic soils of Cornas. Aged in large oak barrels, it unveils aromas of dark fruits and spices, a taut palate and a mineral finish. Perfect for cellaring up to 10 years, it pairs with game and aged cheeses.

A historic pillar of Cornas, this family estate has embodied the northern soul of the Rhône for three generations.

Tasting notes for Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2021 Magnum
To the eye: A deep red robe with violet highlights, of a silky density and a brilliance that heralds a generous and precise substance.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and fresh violet intertwine with notes of liquorice, black pepper and graphite, carried by a saline touch that evokes the schist of the terroir.
On the palate: A velvety and taut texture, where lively acidity and chalky minerality support a palette of dark fruits and gentle spices, leading to a long and persistent finish marked by austere elegance.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2021
A vintage marked by vibrant freshness, where the Syrah of Cornas reveals a mineral tension and a refined structure, typical of well-balanced years.
- Ageing potential: 15 to 25 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light.
