The Auguste Clape Cornas 2021, from Domaine Auguste Clape, reveals the granitic soils of Cornas. This Syrah, with aromas of dark fruits and pepper, is aged in old foudres for a silky, mineral palate. Decant from 2026 onwards to accompany red meats or slow-cooked dishes.
Domaine Auguste Clape
A historic pillar of Cornas, this family estate has embodied the granitic soul of the northern Rhône for three generations.
- Terroir: Steep terraced vineyards on decomposed granite soils, shaping Syrah wines of chalky minerality and unique tension.
- Vinification: Traditional methods – whole clusters, concrete tanks and old foudres – for a pure, unadulterated expression of the grape variety.

In the eye: Deep ruby robe with violet highlights, dense and silky.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and fresh blackcurrant intertwine with notes of black pepper, faded violet and a saline touch reminiscent of sun-warmed schist.
On the palate: Ample and precise texture, carried by a lively acidity and a granitic minerality that shapes a long, almost saline finish where liquorice and gentle spices mingle.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
