The Cornas 2022 from Domaine Auguste Clape, sourced from the granitic slopes of Cornas, is a Syrah wine with aromas of black fruits and violets. Vinified without destemming and aged in barrels, it reveals a silky texture and a chalky minerality. To be enjoyed until 2035 with red meats or game.
Domaine Auguste Clape
A historic pillar of Cornas, this family estate has embodied for three generations the granitic soul of the northern Rhône.
- Terroir: Steep slopes of Cornas, soils of decomposed granite – a mineral setting that sculpts Syrah in depth.
- Vinification: Traditional method, without destemming, aged in old barrels for a pure and unadorned expression.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2022
To the eye: A deep purple robe with dense hues, almost silky in its intensity.
On the nose: First, aromas of wild blackberry and fresh violet, then darker notes of liquorice, black olive and a saline touch reminiscent of granite warmed by the sun.
On the palate: A fleshy yet precise texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the fine, tightly knit tannins stretch into a long finish where peppermint and candied black fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage marked by solar maturity tempered by cool nights, offering a rare balance between power and elegance.
- Aging potential: 15 to 20 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12-14°C) away from light.
