Auguste Clape Cornas 2009, a Syrah from the granitic hillsides of Cornas, reveals aromas of dark fruits, spices and smoke. Vinified with whole clusters and aged in large oak barrels, it offers a full, mineral and silky palate. Ideal through 2037, it pairs beautifully with sauced meats and aged cheeses.

Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2009
To the eye – A deep red robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky.
On the nose – Aromas of wild blackberry and crunchy blackcurrant, followed by notes of black liquorice, grey pepper and a smoky touch, all underlined by a discreet granitic saltiness.
On the palate – A full and fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and slightly spiced finish where power and elegance intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its complex aromas.
Vintage 2009
A sunny and generous vintage, where the summer heat ripened the Cornas Syrahs without diminishing their mineral freshness.
- Ageing potential: 15 to 25 years (through 2034) under cool cellar conditions (12–14°C) and away from light.
