Domaine Auguste Clape
A pillar of Cornas winemaking, this family estate has embodied the spirit of northern Rhône Valley Syrah since 1949, with tradition and exacting standards shaping every cuvée.
- Terroir: Steep granite soils in Cornas, from which Syrah draws its characteristic minerality and vibrancy.
- Winemaking: Traditional methods—hand destemming, long fermentation on the skins, and aging in large oak casks—for wines of rare authenticity.
Tasting notes for Auguste Clape Cornas 2022 Magnum
Appearance: Deep red with violet highlights, dense and silky.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and fresh violet, followed by a touch of licorice and black pepper, then subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate: Fleshy yet precise in texture, with lively acidity and firm tannins, leading to a long, saline finish where spice mingles with dark fruit.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy glass to bring out its full complexity.
