The Cornas 2023 from Domaine Auguste Clape, sourced from Syrah on granite, reveals notes of violet and spices. Its palate, firm and silky, offers a vibrant minerality. Perfect for 10–15 years of ageing, it pairs with braised lamb or aged cheeses.
Heir to a family expertise rooted in the steep hillsides of Cornas, this domaine embodies the northern soul of the Rhône.
- Terroir: Granite soils of Cornas, where Syrah draws its minerality and tension.
- Winemaking: Ageing in large oak barrels, respecting traditions for precise and vibrant wines built for ageing.
Tasting notes for Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2023
Appearance: A deep purple robe, of a silky density, almost impenetrable.
On the nose: Aromas of fresh violet, wild blackberry, then liquorice and black pepper, lifted by a saline and chalky touch.
On the palate: A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a granitic minerality, stretching into a long and taut finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release the wine's full complexity.
Vintage 2023
A vintage marked by balance, where the coolness of the nights preserved the tension and purity of the fruit.
- Aging potential: 15 to 20 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light.
