Sourced from the gravels of Pauillac, the Château Pontet-Canet 1986 (5th Classified Growth) blends Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) and Merlot. Aged in oak barrels, it offers notes of cedar and dark fruits, a silky texture and a vibrant minerality. Perfect with game or aged cheeses.
An iconic estate of Pauillac, rooted in the history of the Grands Crus Classés since 1855, where tradition and biodynamic innovation intertwine.
- Terroir : 81 hectares of Garonne gravels within the Pauillac appellation, poor and well-drained soils that sculpt wines of mineral precision and rare depth.
- Vinification : Aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 20 months, producing cuvées where the tannic structure is paired with silky elegance, the signature of a style that is both powerful and refined.
Tasting notes for Château Pontet-Canet Pontet Canet 1986
- To the eye : Deep garnet-red robe with tawny highlights, of a velvety density, revealing a fully achieved maturity and a smooth, unctuous texture.
- On the nose : First, aromas of morello cherry and candied blackcurrant, followed by deeper notes of cedar, blonde tobacco, and a saline touch, like an echo of the Pauillac gravels.
- On the palate : A lively and precise attack, where the acidic tension carries a silky, almost chalky texture, before a long and mineral finish, marked by well-integrated yet still present tannins.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
